VOICE OVER for AUDIOBOOKS - Late Spring - Starts in March

8 Weeks of Class + Week 8 Industry Guest

There is no prerequisite for this Intermediate class. Anyone interested in audiobook narration can enroll! Our Voice Over for AudioBooks class is a great place to begin your understanding of the ever-growing audiobook category of voice over work. We focus on the technical (articulation, breathing, consistency, stamina) as well as the artistic (interpretation, developing well-defined voices, delivery). We give you an overview of what the industry looks like in the audiobook field while using existing novels to help you find and develop characters. You will have many opportunities to read in front of the class and your coach, helping you to enhance the qualities in your characters and in your own voice. This class culminates in a Week 8 Zoom Showcase with an Industry Guest.

Instructor Dyane Filip

  • Dyane’s skillful voice can be heard in film and TV work, and in dozens of national commercials for the likes of McDonalds, Head & Shoulders, and Raisin Bran.
  • She is passionate about teaching and has guided voice actors for decades, both in classes and as an on-set coach.
  • Ms. Filip is the only woman to have performed as the Public-Address Announcer for the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field.
  • Ask anyone who has worked with Ms. Filip in New York, LA, Chicago, or Denver, and they’ll tell you: Dyane will help you find the best and the most fun way to do voice acting work.

COMMERCIAL VOICE OVER - Six Thursdays Starting 2/1/24

6 Weeks of Class (Agent Showcase Week 6): Voice Over is everywhere in the advertising world. But how do you break in, and how can you stand out? What are the current trends and the timeless truths? In this class, you will learn to deliver the different read styles to help you approach any ad material – flat, pharma, off-the-cuff, sophisticated, snarky, sexy, sell-y, improv, and more! Plus, learn the technical basics and the best ways to get yourself started the industry! Class ends with a Showcase performance for a Voice Over Agent! (There is no prerequisite for this class.)

Instructor Andi Gibson

  • Andi was actually born into the arts and entertainment world, having toured in utero with Bob Dylan. At age 2, she appeared in Fleetwood Mac’s music video “Gypsy,” directed by Kenny Ortega. By age 7, Andi was singing professionally as a guest vocalist for Warner Brothers on a duet with Kim Carnes.
  • Fast forward a few years, and Andi has performed on many major stages: The Staples Center behind Barbra Streisand, Universal Studios Japan, The Pasadena Playhouse, Alliance Theater, Celebrity Cruises, Disneyland Resort, and more.
  • After 18 years of live performing, she shifted her focus from stage to studio, and began doing voice over on commercials for Kraft, Febreze, Target, and Airbnb, to name a few.
  • She soon expanded into the world of video games, voicing Impa in Nintendo’s “Zelda: Breath of the Wild” and “Tears of the Kingdom”. To date, Andi has voiced over 20 video game titles and counting.
  • In the animation world, Andi can be heard on episodes of “Duncanville” for Fox, “Archibald’s Next Big Thing” for Netflix, and “Thundercats Roar!” for Cartoon Network – including the main theme song. Andi also sang on the premiere episode of “Hacks” for HBO Max, and most recently “Bugs Bunny Builders” on Cartoonito.
  • She’ll still hop in front of the camera now and then – you can catch Andi as the Witch for Google Nest’s Halloween campaign.
Learn to Record from Home!

In today’s market, Voice Over Artists do their recording almost entirely from their home studios.

Our Voice Over classes are also conducted remotely, on Zoom!

This is in the best interest of anyone interested in actually doing voice overs,

as you will need to know how to record yourself with your own equipment.

Equipment Needed:

You will need a computer with a camera and a microphone, and a reliable internet connection.

You may already have a microphone, or headset with a microphone,

If you do need a different mic, we can recommend some that are reasonably priced.
